Pennsylvania makes strides in attorney discipline
(3/22/2006) - A national consumer legal reform group has listed Pennsylvania as the “most improved” state for lawyer discipline. A group known as HALT, which boasts 50,000 members, has issued its 2006 Lawyer Discipline Report Card that ranks Pennsylvania fifth in the nation over all. The ranking is a turnaround from 2002, when the state’s system was rated as worst in the nation. The report card sites the development of the disciplinary system’s first Web site, which posts the names of sanctioned attorneys, a more organized staff that now provides the American Bar Association with statistics on its case processing; and “added transparency in the disciplinary process.
